Artur 'mararthur1' Martirosyan made his way through a star-studded 124-entry field in Event #17-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller of the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) to claim his first SCOOP title and the top prize of $271,790 after denying Fedor 'CrownUpGuy' Holz another victory heads-up.
Martirosyan came into the final day with the upper hand and didn’t take long to further extend his lead. He bursts the final table bubble within the second level of the day after eliminating Jason 'JASON.MAC100' McConnon, putting himself in an even more comfortable spot at the final table.

Between using his lead to apply pressure and getting the right hands at the right time, Martirosyan stayed in control throughout most of the final day and was responsible for half of the eliminations.
The Russian is no stranger to high roller tournaments. In fact, he appeared at the final table of multiple high roller events recently. His experience was evident as he had to outlast top players to make it to the finish line and he managed to defeat crusher Fedor Holz as his last opponent, depriving him from another SCOOP title to claim his own.

Final Day Action
Day 2 of the event saw 11 players already in the money return to action and the final table was reached almost immediately with the elimination of Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrel and 'JASON.MAC100' McConnon within the first thirty minutes.
The action remained fast-paced at the final table and the first one to drop out was Daniel 'Oxota' Dvoress when he moved all in with ace-queen suited against Martirosyan’s king-ten but couldn’t stayed ahead as the board gave Martirosyan a full house.
Andras “probirs” Nemeth was Martirosyan’s next victim after he four-bet jammed with eights only to get snap-called by Martirosyan’s ace-king. The river brought a king ending Nemeth's tournament run in eighth place.
Falling shortly after was Ryhor “Grisha813” Karapanau in seventh place. After losing a big pot against Jorryt 'TheCleaner11' van Hoof, Karapanau shoved his last crumbs with queen-ten into Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira’s jacks and found no help.
He was quickly joined by Ferreira who ran his jacks into “allin2bluff”' s ace-king. The river came a king and that was it for Ferreira’s tournament life.
The next casualty of the final table was Vicente 'vicenfish' Delgado. He shoved his last eight big blinds with king-three into “allin2bluff' 's ace-jack in a blind versus blind situation to take fifth place.
Next up was 'allin2bluff' in fourth place when he three-bet jammed with fours and saw a call from Martirosyan who held ace-king. Martirosyan rivered a backdoor flush, ending “allin2bluff”’s run.
Van Hoof was eliminated in third place after he shoved from the button with ace-five and found himself in bad shape against Holz’s jacks.
This set up a heads-up match between Martirosyan and Holz for the title. Martirosyan had a 2 to 1 chip advantage going into the final battle. Holz put up a good fight and came close to evening up the playing field at some point but he couldn’t keep up with a comeback and it was all over when he check-raised all in on the flop with mid-pair and a gutshot only to get called by Martirosyan who had an open-ended straight draw. Martirosyan made a backdoor flush to win it all, claiming his first SCOOP title and the top prize of $271,790.

Drinan makes it three in a week: It seems like only yesterday we were anointing Connor “blanconegro” Drinan as the king of online Omaha, but it turns out he wasn’t even done. The very next night, Drinan returned to the scene of his two previous successes and added a third SCOOP Omaha title, this time winning the $215 buy-in NLO8 event for a haul of $28,358.58, including bounties. He beat a field of 1,052 entries to do so. Drinan’s three victories in a week is sure to go down as one of SCOOP’s most remarkable achievements. Before sitting down this week, Drinan had only one SCOOP title, won in a $2,100 NLHE tournament last year. But is now a four-time champ and is one an extraordinary heater.
Titles keep coming for Connor “blanconegro” Drinan
Is Deeb’s record in sight? With this SCOOP festival only just into its second half, Drinan will have plenty of opportunities to try to go for his fourth title (and fifth overall). The 30-year-old from Chicago is now on par with Jason Mercier, Shawn Buchanan, and “D PitcherAK” who all have taken down three events within a single SCOOP series as well. Shaun Deeb is the only player in history who has managed to go one step further, claiming four trophies in 2012.
“Corback_fr” runs hot for SM success: The Sunday Million on SCOOP’s middle weekend is always one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments on the calendar, and the most recent renewal offers all the evidence why. It attracted 3,419 players, building a prize pool of more than $1.7 million — ie, 70 percent more than the guarantee. After two days lasting more than nine hours apiece, UK-based player “Corback_fr” emerged as the champion, striking a heads-up deal with “Murashko” from Belarus before closing it out. Corback_fr won $216,617.61 for the victory and his first major PokerStars title.
Ukraine’s “Anjeyyy” binks High Roller: Therme’s victory came at the “medium” price point in SCOOP-44, which was set at $530 for the Special Edition. The “high” event, on the other hand, demanded $5,200 to play, and that brought out 264 players with the deepest pockets. Among them was “Anjeyyy“, who is one of Ukraine’s regulars at the high stakes tournament tables, with final tables in the Sunday Million, WCOOP and SCOOP already to his name, as well as at least one Super Tuesday success. Anjeyyy capped all of those results when he prevailed in last night’s SCOOP final, banking $253,819.24 after beating Sweden’s “Odonkor1” heads up. The low buy-in version of this event, costing $55 to play, went to Germany’s “Durrden”. He picked up $100,536.45, which is a staggering score for the tournament buy-in.

Cool Pimmss: The Dutch player “Pimmss” first came to our attention for a near miss. He was runner up to Gianluca “Tankanza” Speranza in a Super Tuesday Special Edition in 2017. But since then, it’s been nothing but hits, including winning two High Rollers series events last December — and now a major SCOOP title. The most recent result, in the $2,100 Sunday Warm-Up special edition earned Pimmss a total $190,243.18, which included $101,398.42 in bounties — further evidence that the PKO format really favours the brave. The UK’s “caIcuIer_”, who was second, took the same amount as Pimmss from the main prize pool ($88,844.49), but “only” $13,078.13 in bounties.
Let it Floesoe:
The Netherlands’ fine SCOOP continued last night with a victory in the $530 buy-in Sunday Kickoff equivalent for “Floesoe“, which was worth $75,183.24. In order to clinch the victory, Floesoe had to overcome Ognjan “cocojamb0” Dimov heads up, which is not easily done. Dimov is a former EPT and WSOP champion and knows how to close tournaments out. The pair struck a deal after “Tyrion2205” was knocked out in third, and Floesoe completed the job at the end of a marathon tournament, with 965 entries. Both the low and medium buy-in tournaments went to players from Brazil, “Rgreick” and “FellipeD”, who took $10,921.59 and $49,740.12, respectively.“pruttzz12” bags a big one for Sweden: In all, there were four tournaments finishing yesterday with prize pools of more than $1 million, the last of which resulted in a maiden major title for Sweden’s “pruttzz12“. The event in question was the $1,050 buy-in SCOOP-46-H, a straight NLHE 8-Max, and some of the game’s titans made it to the late stages: Igor “lechuckpoker” Kurganov was eighth, Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford was sixth and Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich was fifth. However, the heads-up battle came down to “pruttzz12” and Kazakhstan’s “Lavrik-mastr”, with the Swede coming out on top. That meant a $176,202 prize and a job very well done.

We are now into Week 2 of SCOOP, which means three fresh leader boards and another race to pick up some major bonus prizes. The new leader boards began with tournaments that started on May 10 and later, which means winners of all of the major Sundays head the early standings — except in one case. That’s the “overall” leader board, which runs through the duration of the festival, and where we find Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira still with a commanding lead.

COUNTRIES LEADER BOARD
Although Brazil, Sweden, Canada and the Netherlands picked up two titles apiece in tournaments ending on Monday, players based in the UK managed to snag three. That further extended the Brits’ leader board dominance, especially with Russia drawing a blank.
Meanwhile, Connor Drinan continues to haul Mexico up the leader board, all but single handed. The other Mexican victory came thanks to Adam “adamyid” Owen, which means an American and a Brit are doing their adopted nation proud.
